Laymen’s Retreat

Buckhorn Retreat

This past weekend New Hope sponsored a laymen’s retreat in Buckhorn, Kentucky, as a part of our ongoing ministry of church planting and evangelistic outreach in the mountain region of Eastern Kentucky.  Eighteen men attended the retreat, including NHIM President Roy Lauter, and Board Members Matt Kinnell and Joe Hardman.  Half of the men who attended have been believers for less than one year.

Retreat sessions were presenting on sharing a vision for evangelism in Eastern Kentucky, a basic introduction to theology of sin and salvation, and sharing your faith with family and friends.  The Spirit was present throughout the weekend, and several men sought a deeper relationship with the Lord.  Each of the men shared that they felt the weekend was a great encouragement and time of growth.  Please pray with us that the seeds that were planted would continue to grow and that the commitments that were made to the Lord would be kept strong.

Celebration of Missions

Roy had the honor of serving as ‘Keynote Speaker’ at WGM Northeast Celebration of missions on April 27 and 28.  The meeting was held in Punxsutawny, Pennsylvania ( home of Phil the weather forcasting groundhog).  It was a great couple of days sharing about world missions.  WGM enjoys strong support in that area. There were also several people there that had served on NHIM teams. How blessed NHIM has been across the years to have served with so many dedicated believers.  On Sunday April 29, Roy preached at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Greenwood, PA.  NHIM has many friends there and the chance to renew friendships was such a blessing.
